CHEEK AESTHETIC

Cheeks, a symbol of youth and beauty, begin to collapse, sag, and lose their fullness as the age progresses. Cheek aesthetic comes into play at this stage.

The area between our lower eyelids and our mouths is considered as the middle face. Due to aging, gravity, repetitive contractions of the mimic muscles and lifestyle, the skin, fat and muscle in this region collapse over time and move downwards. In this case, the cheeks begin to look droopy and straight. At this point, the cheek aesthetic are moved to the place where the soft tissues of the cheek should be, allowing the cheeks to regain their natural fullness and smooth lines. Various methods have been described for this purpose.

Who are good candidates?

  • If you think your cheeks are saggy and cheek contours  are uncertain

  • If you want to regain your plump cheeks that aging process has taken.

  • If you want to correct your facial asymmetry caused by congenital or subsequent injury, you can be a suitable candidate for cheek aesthetics.

What are the methods used in cheek aesthetic?

Each has advantages and disadvantages over the other, and there are 3 methods outlined below:

1- Cheek aesthetic by fat injection: In this method, the fat taken from a certain part of your body by liposuction method is washed, purified and carefully injected into your cheeks with specially designed cannulas. 40 - 50% of the given fat remain after 6 months. It is a permanent method for gaining volume to the cheek.

2- Cheek aesthetics with fillers: It is made with hyaluronic acid. It is a method that should be repeated at certain intervals. It is not permanent.

3- Cheek aesthetics with facial implants: Facial implants are of various shapes and are designed to rejuvenate facial contours and provide volume. It is performed under general anesthesia. An incision made through the mouth creates a pocket where the implant will be placed at the location corresponding to the cheek region. The implant is placed carefully. The incision in the mouth is sutured with absorbable  stitches and closed. It is a permanent method. There may be slight swelling and bruising that lasts a day or two after surgery. Cold compresses are required for the first 24 hours for swelling to disappear more quickly. The patient is hosted in the hospital one night. In the first week, the patient can return to his / her daily life and work. Heavy and challenging activities are restricted for 4-6 weeks.

Although facial implants are permanent, they may break as a result of facial trauma or harsh activities, so they can become infected. However, this is very rare.
